The Shrubberies School

Mental Health Champion Award July 2018

Belinda Heaven From Gloucestershire Health Living and Learning came to present our Mental Health Champions Award plaque.

Dear Jane Jones,

Thank you so much for all the hard work you and your staff have put into your Mental Health Champions submission and for hosting the Learning Walk Validation visit. The Quality Assurance Group (QuAG) which is made up of Public Health Commissioners, External partners, GCC staff and GHLL lead teachers has now met to consider all the evidence.

At the QuAG meeting all the schools submissions, including the review, interventions, lead teacher support statement and learning walk evidence were looked at in detail. The group noted in particular that the standard of submissions were very high this time. They were extremely impressed with the excellent practice at The Shrubberies School and it was clearly evident that emotional health and wellbeing is not just a ‘bolt on’ to the school but is at the heart of the school environment as well as the community and important to everyone. Intervention work has been targeted and appropriate for both students and staff and there is a real passion to ensure that the impact is making a difference in all areas of school life. Linking of physical health and mental health has been a main driver in the school and the commitment from you and your team has been highlighted in all areas of the submission.

I therefore have great pleasure in confirming that you have been awarded the Mental Health Champions Award for Gloucestershire.

Huge congratulations to you and your team.

Kind regards
